I'd been researching my family of cape-horners, Master mariners & Pilots, the Austins of Swansea, & this site has been a great help. Anyone connected with the Austins, looking for information or able to help with my search, mail me on the above address. Regards, John.

This was so interesting! Actually was just starting to look into my family history...would be great great if I am linked through genes as well as name! Especially as I am a sailor of yachts!

I have been researching the McLean family history. My family hailed from Brixham, Devon and were master mariners. I have found details of my great grandfather, James McLean, who was the master of the Clara sailing out of Swansea. Aboard ship as a "boy" on his first trip was his 9 year old son James. I have also found information about my great grandfathers brother Samuel who was also a master mariner sailing out of Swansea.
This is a fascinating site. Keep up the good work. I live in Pembrokeshire so intend making a trip to
Swansea to research further.

Thanks to your site, I found my g-grandfather George Boucher aboard the "Effendi" from 14-6-1891 to 3-10-1891, Rio to Wales. Not knowing anything about his seafaring days, this entry will hopefully help us track his life before settling in Australia in 1898. Thank you very, very much for making this information available. Great site - WELL DONE!
