Brilliant site!! I am a descendant of a brother of John Harris (Cert no: 83375). John died in Cadiz. Any other relatives out there? I already have a copy of Ship's Log for a trip on the Sketty Belle. Incidentally, the ship ended its days off in the Torres Straits, Australia. John died at Cadiz 1 Dec 1879.

This is a fantastic site which improves with age. It has helped me greatly to add flesh to my Chalk maritime ancestors and to point me in other directions too. Please do carry on with your efforts.

An excellent site, unfortunately, my ancester, Samuel Saunders,is not on your lists. He was born at St.Athan in 1867, so may have sailed from Cardiff. I will keep searching as more data becomes available. Many thanks for providing such a good Resource!

An amazing site - well done !
I'm trying to trace the surname Du Pree, maybe
Swansea, probably up to 1865, recorded as a Merchant Seaman by his wife in the 1861 census.
